Ferrari just revealed its most powerfull naturally aspirated V12 car in history. Ferrari 812 Competizione is a hardcore coupe version of the 812 Superfast, with Aperta being the open top variant. Probably the most impressive stuff is going on under the bonnet. There lies a 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, which developes a massive 830 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

This is some 30 horsepower more than the standard 812 Superfast, however the torque has dipped slightly. The maximum power is achieved at mind blowingly high 9.250 rpm and then, the V12 still has some 250 rpm’s left. Competizione is not only a power exercise for the 812, but also represents a severe crash diet. Extensive weight-saving methods were utilized and the results speak for themselves, as the Ferrari 812 Competizione with its massive engine only weighs 1.486 kg dry.

Increase in power, combined with a weight loss is a recipe for monumental performance. The Coupe variant can achieve a dash to 100 km/h in just 2,85 seconds, but even more impressive is its time from a standstill to 200 km/h, which takes no more than 7,5 seconds. Top speed is said to be ‘more than 340 km/h’ but since we have seen videos of a standard Superfast achieving 360 km/h with ease on a German Autobahn, there is no doubt that Competizione will do those kind of speeds too.

830 horsepower, 2,85 seconds from 0 to 100km/h and 7,5 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h is trully monumental performance!

One of the biggest weight saving measures on the coupe is rear body collored panel made from aluminium and carbon fiber elements, which replaces the glas found on the Superfast. Aperta model tries to offset some of the weight gains of being a targa model, by having manually removable, carbonfiber roof panel, which stores inside the especially designed compartment inside the car.

The familiar seven speed double clutch gearbox has the same gear ratios as before, but has been recalibrated to reduce shift times by 5 percent. So was the ferrari’s four wheel steering to improve handling even further. There are also some changes done to the aerodynamics of the car, and the interior feels more spartan as this is a special, hardore edition of a standard GT model.

That being said it is also a super limited edition, and will therefore be very expensive. There is no information on the pricing yet, but we do know that Ferrari will not have any trouble selling all of them.
