There is no secret that BMW Group is planing to unveil their most hardcore BMW M5 model up till now. Official unvailing of the new BMW M5 CS is scheduled to take part next month, and we already know prety much all about it. This will not be just your regular ‘limited’ edition exercise with some custom paint and ‘special’ stickers on the car, because BMW really has put in the work and went that extra mile to make it special.
What are we talking about? Well for the start BMW M5 CS lost some 70 kg in comparison with a regular BMW M5 which is really impresive and puts it on paar with the new BMW M3 Competition. The weight cut ist mostly due to carbon bonnet and new gorgeous carbon bucket seats found in the new M3/M4 Competition, and probably something similar in the rear seats as well. The M5 CS also gets lightweight forged aluminium wheels and carbon ceramic brakes with red brake calipers as standard, which both help with the further weight reduction.
Besides less weight, the M5 CS also gets 10 extra horsepower from the already potent 4.4. liter twin-turbo V8, for the grand total of 635 HP. This combined with less weight just might be enough to drop the dash to 100 km/h to 3 seconds flat and, if not limited, could easily top 320 km/h (200 mph).
As for the visual cues, BMW M5 CS will feature unique front grille with gold bronze surround, and those forged wheels of the same color. There will also be motorsport inspired yellow headlights, already seen on the BMW M8 Gran Coupe First Edition, and some bespoke bodywork.
Unfinished BMW M5 CS prototype already run an impressive lap time around Hockenheim, beating cars like Audi R8 RWD, Audi RS7 and C8 Corvette in the process, and was just 0,3 of a second slower than the new Porsche 911 Carrera S. BMW says that this will be their fastest road car ever, and based on those facts, we tend to believe them.
